We had a very nice prenatal appt today - we have finally met all 5 midwives in the practice. Anita was great, she sat down and chatted with us for a long time. We really appreciated her openness to our questions and she was really down to earth. Gregory is measuring exactly on track and his heart rate is strong - she said he was a "smart baby" - not sure what that means but its probably good huh? :) However, I did notice a couple days ago that he changed positions, and Anita confirmed that he is now laying sideways. That doesn't exactly sound smart to me since he had been head-down the whole time up to now. Hopefully he's just experimenting and will go back down soon. He has never turned at all since I have been aware of his movements - just a lot of wiggling, kicking and punching. Maybe he's just trying out a new skill - but I hope he doesn't get himself tangled up in there!
As for me, I am continuing to gain weight at a healthy pace, so no worries there. I have been having some back pain in the evenings which I thought was just from sitting on the couch too much, but it occurred to me recently that it is probably my gallbladder feeling irritated. Its not severe and they can't do anything for it anyway. Its very common in pregnancy since the extra progesterone messes up its ability to empty properly. It will probably go away after the birth, and I'm not worried about it. I think I will just try to eat smaller dinners - I tried it tonight and so far so good. And here I was mad that Dan wouldn't give me a proper back rub, when all I really needed to do was pig out less at dinner!!
